The power of community proves that when people care and come together, change is more than possible. This inspires others around the world and encourages more participation in charities. Wonderfully Made Woman, a charity aimed at improving the lives of women and girls, has continued to contribute to sustainability and helping women and girls in local communities become more self-sufficient.
The mission to tackle the needs of women and girls: access to food and shelter, better job opportunities, immigration services, and funding, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, has gained recognition by her Royal Majesty, the Queen of England.
The Queen during her recent visit to the Manchester Cathedral to meet representatives from different support groups in the northwest who have helped communities through Covid-19, selected Mrs Ehinor Amedu-Otaigbe, CEO of Wonderfully Made Woman, as one of five charities to be recognised for the exceptional work throughout in pandemic in keeping core services running, and also stepping in with essential support such as African food delivery to families.
According to Mrs Otiagbe-Amedu “When I started Wonderfully Made Woman, I always dreamt that maybe one day I'll meet the Queen.” She continues, “and meeting the Queen today, is a dream come true. I am so honoured to be selected, and recognised among the many charities also doing great things.” This comes after she just recently received the Prime MInister’s Point of Light Award for her outstanding contribution to making positive change in her community.
Ehinor also celebrated the immense contributions from donors, partners and volunteers of the charity whose immense support during the COVID 19 pandemic ensured the charity continued to provide assistance to vulnerable women across Manchester.
Mrs Otiagbe-Amedu believes that as the pandemic subsides and the world readjusts, there would be new opportunities for Wonderfully Made Woman to “do more to help the communities we work with, but also to see what else we can bring impact to the lives of people,” she said.
"Wonderfully Made Woman is very capable of helping to ensure that we provide support, while also developing new opportunities and partnerships to expand our impact. Because this is the culture of Wonderfully Made Woman: to work harder.”
"To say I look forward to work is an absolute understatement. We have already done a lot of work, and it will be an honour to lead this charity as we enter the next phase of reintegrating people into the society as the Lockdown eases."
