How to maintain mental and emotional health when going through menopause.



menopause /ˈmɛnə(ʊ)pɔːz/ noun 1. the ceasing of menstruation. o the period in a woman's life (typically between the ages of 45 and 50) when menstruation ceases.


Menopause is a natural part of aging every woman will experience at some point in their lifetime, more specifically it’s the stage when a woman’s ovaries completely stop producing reproductive hormones and signals a new phase of life! You may notice a change in period cycles with menstruation becoming either heavy or generally unpredictable. However, it is completely different for every woman! it can happen much earlier, naturally or due to specific treatment from another condition.



Common signs & symptoms of menopause





Hot Flushes


One of the most common menopausal symptoms is hot flushes, women will feel sudden pricks of heat in the upper parts or throughout their body. They can last from 30 seconds to about 10 minutes, but normally reduce in irritability over time!



Hormonal changes that effect mood





Because of the change in hormones, its very likely for some women to experience a decrease in mood/feelings of irritability and sometimes even depression. This is something so difficult to go through, however its important to know this is completely normal! This is a natural effect of hormonal fluctuations in the brain.



Weight Gain





Most women will find slight weight gain in the first stages of the menopause and then again after, this is due to a slower metabolism. again, this is completely normal and common! These are just a few of the issues women face during menopause, however there are lots of positive and healthy ways for women to improve their mental and physical health throughout this difficult period. Menopause effects women in numerous ways ranging from both physically to mentally, with women also reportedly experiencing poor memory and brain fog as well as others having painful joints and dry skin. About 75% of women experience these symptoms. With these symptoms being so troubling, it explains why it would have such a negative impact on women’s mental health. There are lots of different ways scientifically proven to help increase women’s mental health.
